Last week while browsing my Bloglovin feed, I stumbled upon a plea for some last minute testing. I had some time so I dove right in! Jenn from Jennuine Design and A Jennuine Life needed some help testing the fit on the upper sizes of her new LOL Swing Top. It's a fun and super cute pattern!
I always check with M about any testing I do for her anymore. She has definite opinions about what she will and will not wear. Dresses are a definite no. What I really enjoy about this design is it is super girly without being ruffly or lacey. Even though it is super cute on smaller sizes, it really appealed to my older girl too. I made her the size 12- she has a 29 inch chest and is 5'3" (and growing fast!).
Of course the back is my favorite part! It is cleverly constructed using the bias tape. I found 1/4 inch double fold a tad fiddly, but it was worth it! (and I used it as an excuse to get the 1/2 inch single fold attachment for my Singer bias tape maker... I love that thing!!)
It really lends itself to color blocking. Here is the first one I made (note some of the fullness has been removed from the back for the final version). I used this super cute daschund fabric I found at Goodwill. How could I resist teal AND weiner dogs?!?
M picked out the fabric combo for the purple one, and I wasn't sure about it. I am terrible at color and pattern mixing, but I think she has a gift for it... when I finished this top I found that I love the combo! I've since given her free choice of fabric on a couple of current projects and I'm really liking her choices. Right now we make a great team!!
