This is my wearable muslin of Hazel, by Colette Patterns. I love it, and consider it to be very wearable! (Note to self: start wearing dresses more. "Wearable" and "Worn" are two very different things.) I actually started this dress last summer, but it stalled when I needed help adjusting the straps. My dress form has much more level shoulders than I do. It kept my dress form warm all winter, but now that the weather here has warmed up I'm ready to wear it.

Look- pockets! I love them!
I did notice that I took the bodice in at the top of the sides a bit. I think I need to add some finishing to the waist area, as there is a lot of raw edged gathered fabric there. Maybe double fold bias tape?

Altogether I'm very happy with it. I love Colette Patterns! Yesterday I was at Joann's with my mom and I decided to look at patterns. Sitting there I realized that I really didn't want to buy any of them. The measurements on the back are always off for me and I'm rarely satisfied with the results. I'm so pleased with the sizing, shapes, and support independent pattern designers like Colette, Sewaholic, Jamie Christina, and Oliver and S provide. In fact, I think I'll be downloading Colette's Iris shorts pattern today! Yay!

I used a sheet from either an estate sale or goodwill and underlined with bleached muslin. It's obvious (I think) on this little blog that I love using sheets as fabric for garments. So much yardage! I think the vintage pattern on this one is super cute too. I'm having a hard time thinking of a second version that I'd like better than this muslin!

This pattern was easy to put together and still has plenty of great details. I think this style suits my shape (definitely pear) very well. The higher waist line is nice, and the gathered skirt is not too full, so it doesn't add a lot of bulk to my hip area.
Details:
Pattern- Colette Patterns Hazel http://www.colettepatterns.com/shop/hazel
Fabric- vintage sheet and bleached muslin
Notions- zipper (and double fold bias tape soon, I think)
Wearability- high
Repeatability- high- as soon as I think of a look

You did a great job! I've never purchased a Colette pattern, but I've always admired them. This tempts me that I need to try out one of their patterns.

I think it looks great on you. I need to start wearing more dresses to. I think it's been about 10 years since I've worn a dress. I actually got married in a skirt and shirt!

I absolutely love this fabric! I too am a huge advocate of using vintage sheets and duvet covers. Looks fab!
