Hey everyone! There is a lot of making going on over here, but not much finishing as of yet. You know, girl shirts done, boy pants done, but no finished outfits. More posts coming soon!
Saturday morning I checked Facebook at the just the right time to be a pattern tester for Andrea at Go To Patterns!! I have really wanted to be a pattern tester for a while but haven't made the cut yet. This time it all worked out and I had so much fun! (I'm so glad I have you all to talk to about this, as testing patterns doesn't sound fun to noncrafty people.)
This is the Belinda Dress from Go To Patterns, and I love it! I can't really get M to wear dresses anymore, but this dress works great as a big cozy top with leggings and boots. It's kind of like a big sweatshirt. M loves the super huge pocket!
The pocket area is a good opportunity for adding contrast fabric. My main fabric is from Girl Charlee, and the inside of the pocket is fabric I picked up at Goodwill. You could mix and match fabric at the bodice, sleeves and skirt too. I'll need to be more adventurous on my next run at this pattern. I'm always very matchy matchy and non adventurous with my fabric choices.
I highly recommend this pattern. It is well written and well drafted. It was quick too- I had this one done in a couple of hours! I really want to try one in a light sweatshirt fleece or sweater knit. Who wouldn't love a big sweatshirt like this?
